| Set up in 1974, Cambridge Talking News is an approved charity which provides a weekly news and information tape recording for blind and partially sighted people. The tapes are distributed free of charge and Cambridge Talking News is a completely voluntary organisation, financed only by donations.
There are four teams, each with an editor, technician, news readers and a number of volunteers to help collect and collate the necessary information. The tape is produced every Tuesday evening. This takes about two hours. The master tape is then copied and sent out that night, post free, courtesy of the Post Office. At the moment there are about 300 listeners.
The tape includes local news stories, forthcoming events, general information and wide range of interviews and topics.
If you would like to receive a weekly tape recording or know anybody who would, please contact Nick Redmayne on 01954 230037.
We are always looking for more volunteers to help in the presentation of the tape and/or copying and general background work, so, if you are interested, please contact Nick Redmayne on 01954 230037.
