| Click on the map above and you will see all the many places available for parking in the Mill Road area.
To start with, just behind the Bath House, on the corner of Mill Road and Gwydir Street, near the bridge, is a Pay and Display car park. There are usually spaces available here. To get into the car park, turn into Gwydir Street from Mill Road and take the first right, just after the Bath House and just before the first of the terraced houses. This is very handy for shopping on both sides of the bridge.
Nearer to Parker's Piece, Willis, Guest and Mackenzie Road each have two or three parking spaces dedicated to shoppers. They have a time limit of half an hour, so you have to get your skates on, but these spaces are especially for you. Residents are not permitted to park in them and the joy of the half hour limit is that spaces become available frequently. To reach them, turn into Guest Road from Mill Road and either park there or go to the end and turn either right or left to come back towards Mill Road. In all cases the parking spaces are closest to Mill Road. For your information, at 5.00 pm parking on both sides of these streets becomes legal and since many of the shops are still open, that is a good time to find a space.
Additionally, if you are making a day of it, strolling along Mill Road to do a lot of shopping and maybe stopping off for lunch somewhere, Queen Anne Terrace Car Park is pretty handy. Even nicer, you can Pay and Display in Norfolk Street or St Matthews Street, walk across lovely Mill Road Cemetery and turn your shopping excursion into a pleasant walk.
There is also on-street Pay and Display in Devonshire Road and in Mill Street and the top of Glisson Road, parts of Devonshire Road, St Barnabas Road (at the Mill Road end), Gwydir Street and Gresham Road, all marked on the map above.
On the Romsey side of the bridge, Cutlacks has a car park in Ross Street, which faces the shop.
Tariffs for main car parks can be found on the 'Useful info' page above under 'Local government', City Council. |
